This innovative program provides students with an immersive and dynamic learning experience with recycling, trash, and waste streams. By participating in hands-on lessons, students gain an understanding of consumerism, pollution and potential solutions. This curriculum was created by Darren Bingham of REGEN Consulting Services in partnership with the Azulita Project and Willow Bend Environmental Education Center. Funding was provided by the Arizona Community Foundation of Flagstaff, the City of Flagstaff, and other supporters.

The Garbology curriculum includes four sequential lessons that should be explored in order. We encourage you to tailor Lesson One to your community by checking with a local provider or municipality for what can and cannot be recycled in your area. Additional activities are provided in many of the lessons. The curriculum has been updated to fit the needs of a virtual classroom, but was originally created for in-person teaching.
