Graeme Hand is both a farmer and a trainer in Holistic Land Management. Graeme also manages STIPA Native Grasses Association which was formed by farmers in 1997 to promote the profitable management and use of native grasses in agriculture.
In this presentation Graeme focuses on just what are the benefits of holistic management. He stresses that it is of critical importance to understand how to use livestock to regenerate grasslands or pastures. By grasslands Graeme mums a jungle grassland with a full structure and function and with a highly diverse mix of perennial grasses and other grassland species as opposed to the apparent ‘bonsai grasses that are commonly seen in farming.
This understanding is urgent as once you have that knowledge to regenerate pastures using animals you will be able to make decisions about what else will be profitable to add in to the business.
Within this framework you can then design your own farming business. Having a framework leads you to become:
-more profitable
-work less
-all while your land is regenerating. The real focus is on regeneration.
