This workshop with Rob Fenton from the National Environmental Centre (NEC) a specialist campus of the Riverina Institute of TAFE, takes you through the process of setting up diversified income streams on a property and selling to a local market. Rob is an organic farmer and teacher at the NEC in Albury which is a unique educational facility set on 182 ha organic farm producing organic lamb, free range pork and eggs, olives, honey, vegetables and herbs which they sell locally. By diversifying farm production you can spread risks and increase income. In his talk Rob presents us to his five star system which relates to energy used. Rob is a great believer in the use of minimum energy in the farm system allowing the farm to produce in a natural flow. It is an ecological system which has been designed to reduce inputs, maintain profits and all the while building carbon in the soil.
