Over 35% of the Food Tested in 1998 Contained Pesticide Residues – US FDA

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), over 35% of the food tested in 1998 contained pesticide residues. Fifty-three pesticides classified as “carcinogens” are presently registered for use on major crops, including apples, tomatoes and potatoes.

Additionally, more than 10,000 additives are added to our food supply. In fact, an average American eats about 142 pounds of additives a year. Is Australia very different?

There is no doubt about it; we do not live in a pristine world no matter where you are living. In today’s world of processed foods and environmental pollution, toxic substances exist almost everywhere – in our water and in the air we breathe.

If you are suffering from toxin buildup here are some common signs & symptoms:

• Headaches, Joint Pains, Fatigue, Allergic Responses, Immune Weakness
• Mood Changes, Constipation, Sinus Congestion, Chronic Backache
• Blood Sugar Problems, Skin Conditions, Hormonal Problems

Last week it was suggested that you do a detox. for without one, these toxins which you store may be slowly released into the blood, contributing to many chronic illnesses. However if you do undertake a detox. make sure that you have an adequate amount of nutrition, specific vitamins, enzymes, and minerals for without these specific nutrients, the liver cannot eliminate toxins. We go to our naturopath who gives us some extras over the 3 weeks while we are following a detox program.

Detoxification is largely accomplished in 2 phases. In the 1st phase the body’s enzymes activate the toxic substances to make them more accessible in the second phase. In Phase II, specific enzymes convert toxins into water soluble and harmless molecules that are then eliminated by the body.
