This ‘Walk the Talk‘ is the recording made of Peter Andrews presentation at Kinglake following the bushfires which ravaged the area over one year ago. Peter‘s talk is one of 3 made on the day as part of the HOLISTIC FARMING FUTURES & FORUM day at Kinglake.
Peter’s work, termed Natural Sequence Farming. is based on slowing water flows and environmental rehabilitation. Peter is passionate about sharing his ideas which formed through trial and error over 30 years ago when he purchased ‘Tarwyn Park‘, an environmental wasteland. From his experience Peter believes that the only way forward is to take a step back. observe your landscape and implement ways to restore it. His key message is hydrating the landscape, because nothing can be restored fully until you do.
Peter has worked in vastly different country sides but his system still works. His approach is holistic and is often in direct conflict with the authorities whose regulations will not allow putting structures in creeks including planting willows and keeping blackberries on creek banks to hold them. Peter is looking forward to the day when they recognise the value of allowing these practices. There is plenty of evidence that these practices work.
After the bushfires Peter came to the area to apply his system to a property which was severely affected from the bushfires and which we will visit for our next walk.
