Since we last visited Davo’s Worm Farm there has been a new commercial operation established. This operation offers a great initiative for all farmers whether adopting the system to process their own farm waste or taking it in from other sources.
David is keen to promote the beneficial use of worms to keep our planet healthy. He has been actively supporting various bodies in the Ballarat area to process their waste materials and so when approached by nearby processor, McCain’s to process their factory wastes using worms, David was keen to assist.
Initially, the processing was to be done at onsite and David envisaged producers to not only deliver their goods- potatoes- but to also be able to take away vermicompost with which to fertilise their farms. A next idea but unfortunately due to EPA requirements not easy to achieve.
In this video David shows us the outcome of their discussions which are still in the trial period. The results are applicable to all farmers.
